Beans ( jockey club name “Storm Prospector” ) is a four year old off the track thoroughbred, he only had four career starts with only six hundred and three dollars won, he may not have excelled as a race horse but this little 15.3 hand compact ball of storm cat fire loves his new career as a barrel horse!! He was started under western saddle in January, he really took to this new life trail riding, riding through cows and doing light arena work. We continued this until April when I started him on the barrel pattern. We did a lot of slow work and fundamentals to ease his mind and his body into this new sport. Beans took right to it and we entered our first barrel race in May. Beans has been hauled to five different locations in Kentucky and Indiana to work barrels on a time only exhibition work. He has taken to the upbeat atmosphere and the hustle of the barrel racing world quite well. He is totally focused and committed to his job in the arena he works great and is very willing, he has a quarter horse build which really helps in his turns! On august sixth I entered beans in the adult barrel class in Henryville Indiana and he won his first money in the third division running only a second off the winning time. Beans has no lamness issues, we do monthly massages and chiropractor visits to keep him happy and working at the top of his game. Beans has steel shoes on all four, stands for the farrier, and has great feet. I do keep him on a joint supplement for maintience purposes and performance feed with grass hay. Beans loves baths and turn out time, he has a personality that you will absolutely fall in love with and a kind eye that will melt your heart, he is full of life and will be the first horse to meet you at the gate or stick his head out of the stall when he hears you coming! He ties to the trailer during shows, stalls great, is very mellow and eats well on the road; he also loads and trailers great too!! Beans will absolutely be an asset to any barrel racers barn and we look forward to the 2017 retired racehorse project competition and many more competitions to come!! Beans will be offered for sale at the RRP 2017
